About the MWG

The Microwave Working Group, Ltd. ("MWG"), formed in 1993, is comprised of scientists, engineers, educators and executives who share the common interest of understanding, developing and promoting the use of microwave and radio frequency energy to better serve the world. Our mission is to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge relating to microwave and radio frequency processing technologies and to promote interdisciplinary interaction at all levels of application development and commercialization. The Microwave Working Group, Ltd. is a tax exempt organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code.

Since the MWG's founding it has maintained informality as a loosely structured network of highly motivated and energetic professionals. We are not a formal "society" with by-laws, a budget and hired management. Rather, we are simply a collective of friendly "doers" eager to make commitments and assume the responsibilities as need to fulfill our mission. Our only reward is the tremendous pride we take in our accomplishments.

World Congresses
"Bridging Science, Technology and Applications"

A primary activity of the MWG is organizing the World Congresses on Microwave and Radio Frequency Applications with the objective of providing an international forum by which its mission can be fulfilled. The First World Congress, held in January 1997, attracted more than 350 attendees from 23 countries and featured 190 technical papers covering topics on research and applications in ceramic sintering, polymer curing, rubber vulcanizing, chemical synthesis, waste remediation, oil separation and many others.

Beginning with the Second World Congress, the recurring theme of "Bridging Science, Technology and Applications" has helped close the gap between the scientific community and industrial users of the technologies they develop. At least a third of all papers presented are devoted to applications with both an interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary approach to the use of microwave and RF energy for materials processing. Congresses are now held on a bi-annual basis and offer a variety of activities for professional development, including a series of short courses as well as social functions for networking with colleagues and industry peers.
